What is the difference between the Resort Villas and The Sanctuary?

The villas are condominium style privately owned units that have a living room, dining room, full kitchen and screened-in porch. The Sanctuary is the five-star, five diamond hotel with 255 guestrooms and suites.

TWO BEDROOM RESORT VILLA

The Villas available at Kiawah Island are two-bedroom units. These stylish and well-designed villas come with fully equipped kitchens, en-suite bathroom, shared lounge and TV’s in each of the bedrooms.

The Sanctuary offers check-in at 4:00pm and checkout at 12:00pm. The villas and homes check-in begins at 4:30pm and checkout at 10:30am.

An exclusive service provided only to Kiawah Island Golf Resort guests. Simply call extension 82900 to request a complimentary ride to any location on Kiawah. Please allow 10-15 minutes for service.

Airport transportation may be arranged through our Concierge at an additional cost.

Buggies and Caddies

Shared Buggies are included at Turtle Point and Osprey Point

Caddies are provided for all golfers on the Ocean Course at no additional fee.  The recommended gratuity, based on service, is $120 per player.

Course Transfers

Golf Course Transfers are included, use shuttle service.

Format and Handicaps

Format: The scoring format each day will be individual Stableford.

Handicaps: Playing Handicap will be set at 95% of Course Handicap. The maximum Playing Handicaps are 24 for men and 30 for ladies. If your handicap exceeds these limits, you can still play, but for competition purposes, you’ll play off these limits.

All five rounds will be run under the World Handicap System (WHS). Scores will not automatically be forwarded to England Golf.  Participants MUST return their daily scores to their golf club. The easiest way to do this is to forward the email from Golf Genius, which will be received after each round, and provides details of your scores.

GAGT Overseas Handicap System (OHA):  Handicaps will be adjusted after each round in line with the GAGT OHA system. The GAGT OHA system is based on the CONGU handicap system prior to the introduction of WHS. Adjustments made by the GAGT OHA system will not affect your club Handicap Index.

The GAGT OHA system takes precedence over adjustments made by a player’s home club to ensure consistency. Details of the GAGT OHA system can be provided upon request.

Daily Draw:  The draw for the first two rounds will be available on the website a week before the event.

Draws for the last two rounds will be made in score order.

In the fourth round, the leaders will go out first.

In the last round, the leaders will go out last.

Participants can use the message facility in their Locker/Account for requests such as playing partners and early or late tee times. The organisers will do their best to accommodate these requests.

Prizes and Sweep

To avoid excess baggage charges, prizes will be in the form of vouchers for the Global Amateur Golf Tour.

Daily Prizes:

1^st Place: £100 GAGT voucher

2^nd Place: £70 GAGT voucher

3^rd Place: £50 GAGT voucher

Overall vouchers: 

1st Place: £200 GAGT voucher

2nd Place: £175 GAGT voucher

3rd Place: £150 GAGT voucher

Nearest the Pin:  There will be two Nearest the Pins for each round, with a prize of a £25 GAGT voucher.

Sweep:  An optional sweep of $40, $10 per round, collected in cash during check-in before the first round.  The sweep will be paid out daily for the leading three scores and anyone who scores a two.

Order of Merit

Merit points will be awarded for all four rounds.

Points will be awarded on the basis of 100 points to the winner, 99 points for runner-up, 98 points for third, and so on.

Participants need to be a current member of the GAGT to qualify for merit points.

Local Rules and Dress Code

Local Rules: Local Rules on the scorecard will be in play, in addition to the R&A Rules of Golf.

Dress Code:  We recommend collared shirts and well-kept trousers or shorts with a belt. Denim, open-toe shoes or sandals are not acceptable on the course or driving range.

Airport Transfers:  Airport transfers are not included as we anticipate that people will fly in at different times.

Weather:  In April, Kiawah Island has lovely weather, with average high temperatures around 73F (about 23C) and lows around 57F (about 14C). It’s also the sunniest month, with 70% of days being sunny.

Travel Insurance:  We consider adequate travel insurance to be essential.  As a condition of entry, you are required to arrange an insurance policy to cover cancellation, accident & medical problems, personal liability, legal expenses, luggage, delays etc.

ESTA:  Please ensure you have an up to date and valid ESTA.

The above prices are based on an exchange rate of 1.26$ / £.  A surcharge may be necessary if there is an appreciable change in exchange rates.

Late cancellation:  The golf club will make a charge for late cancellation after numbers have been submitted.
